Red Dragon
Red the Red Dragon proudly serves as the official mascot of SUNY Oneonta, embodying the energy, resilience, and school spirit of the campus community. With a striking presence at athletic competitions, student events, and community initiatives, Red is more than just a symbol—Red is a beloved figure who brings people together and inspires pride across the Red Dragon network. From leading cheers at Dewar Arena to welcoming new students during orientation, Red plays a vital role in making SUNY Oneonta a vibrant and connected campus.
Beyond the costume, Red represents the values that define the SUNY Oneonta experience: determination, creativity, and a fierce commitment to excellence. Whether posing for photos with alumni or encouraging students during finals week, Red is always at the heart of campus life. As an ambassador for the college, Red helps foster a sense of belonging, bridging generations of Red Dragons past, present, and future.
I’m Red, a fierce but friendly dragon from SUNY Oneonta, located in the beautiful “City of the Hills” — Oneonta, NY.
I have the BEST job ever: going to athletic events and getting the crowd fired up, posing for selfies and giving high-fives and giant hugs at campus events, making TikToks and marching with our students and President Cardelle in parades downtown.
